The Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation is the organisation responsible for promoting Australian wine around the world. For the last few years, the boss of the US arm of the AWBC’s operation, Jan Steubing, has been giving my book, Crush, to sommeliers and retailers and consumers as an introduction to Australian wine. In late 2006, Jan suggested it might be a nice idea to record the regional chapters of the book and put them on the AWBC’s web site, www.wineaustralia.com as downloadable podcasts.
So musician Gerry Hale and I locked ourselves in Gerry’s North Melbourne studio with a couple of bottles of wine and came up with 20-or-so recordings - complete with original music and sound effects. Here’s a couple of samples:
